Participants in Preservation Burlington's historic walk through one of Burlington Vermont's oldest cemetarys, on Elmwood Avenue, tell the story of the lives of Zadock and Phoebe Thompson. Zadock Thompson's portrait is on the upper floor of the museum. We find him particularly endearing as he was self motivated and self taught, he is credited with introducing to the University of Vermont, the study of the Natural Sciences.

Peter Adams holds a Ph.D. in Plant and Soil science from the University of Vermont, and would also consider himself largely self taught through deep study and careful and diligent observation of the natural world. His interview is included in the museum to complement the writings he completed for the North Avenue news on the natural history of Burlington, Vermont.
